P2) Plan an advertising campaign
a) Proposal
a) Proposal
I am creating an advertising
campaign that includes 4 print-based advertisements. These prints are two
Teaser posters, a billboard poster, and a magazine advert. These 4 print-based
advertisements are to promote and advertise the upcoming Marvel film called X-23. It is the sequel to Logan. The aim and objective of these advertisements
are to show that the film is coming out soon and will tease a trailer or the
main poster. It will also give a first look at some of the characters which
will increase the anticipation of the film.
The advertisements will
increase the sales of the film as it lets people know when the film will come
out. Also, it teases the characters in the poster to show what they will look
like in the film and how they may relate to the synopsis of the film. It will
increase the brand awareness and will add to the theme and consistency of fonts
and main images on the poster.
The target audience for these
prints will be for the age range of 15 – 25 year olds. The prints will target
both genders as two of the teaser posters will have two of the main characters
in the film. Wolverine/ Logan who is a male character will be on one poster and
X23 who is a female character will be on another poster. The lifestyle that
will be targeted will be the lifestyle of a student at a Sixth Form College.
They like to go to cinema and attend a Sixth Form College. They may have a job
and may be big fans of the Marvel comics.
CAMPAIGN MESSAGE
CAMPAIGN MESSAGE
The campaign is for the upcoming
Marvel film called X-23. It is a sequel to Logan. There will be a number of
messages on the prints. One message will show the release date of the film.
Another message will show the title of the film in bold. The final message will
show the main characters for their own posters. This will show who is starring
in the film and what characters they are playing. Another message will show
Laura’s Claws which will show the audience that this is a continuation from
Logan. It will also be a unique selling point as his claws will be a focal
point. When the audience see this, they will instantly know and recognise that
this has to do with X-Men and Wolverine.
b) Campaign schedule containing launch
dates, consideration of seasonal and calendar events, location and scheduling
of advertisements

I have chosen to release the 2nd Teaser Poster on Christmas Day as it would act as a gift to the fans and a present on Christmas Day. This will work very well as it will increase the social interaction on social media. People will go on social media to post a message about Christmas or to see how its being celebrated across the country and globe. As people will be looking around they will across paths with the poster posted by the official social media accounts called 'X-23'. This may even trend. This means that people will see it as 'Merry Christmas' tops the trends list every year with over 2 million people tweet as the same time.
c) Relevant legal / Ethical issues
There will be no copyright issues with the prints. The image would have been from a hired photographer. Instead, I have chosen to take high quality images from 'outnow.ch'. The image are free to use and will work perfectly for the prints.
An ethical issues people will be concerned about is the use of blood in the prints. The colour Red will be shown on Laura's claws. This will indicate violence. People may be concerned as it promotes violence of her character. They may feel that the age of the character should not be indulged in war like this. Their may be complaints to the ASA but there have been posters in the past that have connoted a lot more violence than in my prints.
There are lots of segments in the Non-Broadcast code that deal with many topics and is more focused on it. There is a section called 'Harm and offence' where the term 'violence' will have rules with it when creating a suitable print for the public.

4.4: Marketing communications must contain nothing that is likely to condone or encourage violence or anti-social behaviour.
My prints do not condone anti-social behaviour. The violence in the print must be shown as I want it to be accurate to the film and so my audience know the exact theme and genre of the film. The image is quite aggressive and this is needed to be accurate with the film. If there were complaints, I would change the image and not show violence and aggression.
4.5: Marketing communications, especially those addressed to or depicting a child, must not condone or encourage an unsafe practice.
My prints do not depict a child being associated with violence. The character called Laura who is in the majority of my prints is a teenager. She has mutant powers and wants to use them for good. The prints do not encourage violence. If there were complaints, I would change the image and not show violence and aggression. Hopefully by then, the print would be suitable for the public.
